As with every decade, trends pop up and die in a matter of a few years. We love them until they run their course, and then pop back up again decades later. With 2020 right around the corner, it’s time to say goodbye to these tired home decor trends from the past decade. Keep reading to see what trends will die in the new year according to RealSimple.com.
Monochromatic Color Pallettes- Sorry all white kitchens, you’re soon to be a thing of the past. 2020 is going to be all about COLOR matching. The minimalist color scheme of using just one color to tie everything together made waves over the past decade as modern interiors became ever so popular, but designers and homeowners want more. Get ready for fun-colored appliances, cabinets, decorations and more. RealSimple is predicting the use of green to make a splash particularly.
All Macrame Everything- Macrame is a beautiful handmade art form, but will no longer shine as an interior decorative piece in 2020. The bohemian look including handwoven wall art and hanging chairs, fixtures, planters, and terrariums is a style that will more than likely be left in 2019. We’re making way for more EMBROIDERED details to come, rather than macrame.
Seashells- The coastal look became a common theme among interior design in 2019, even in homes well off the coast. You probably won’t see this look so much anymore unless you’re actually on the coast in a beach house. No more seashell centerpieces, seashell pendant lamps and velvet shaped seashell throw pillows. 2020 will be more whimsical florals and hand-painted geometrics, than nautical.
